Zeiss Binoculars

Zeiss binoculars have a long history, Zeiss lenses were first produced in 1876 with the sale of a microscope to a company in Massachusetts. Zeiss now specialise in medical and industrial products in addition to binoculars and rangefinders.

Zeiss binoculars are now used for hunting, bird observation, law enforcement agencies and many outdoor and leisure pursuits such as canoeing, boating, hiking and cycling .

State of the art performance is claimed by Zeiss for their binoculars range. They also state that nothing offers performance to better superior views and superior handling of their FL range. These feature a proprietary Lotutec water and oil repelling protective coating modelled on the lotus flower found in the wild. Without this coating moisture and dirt particles collect on the lens service, the protective Lotutec coating lets water drops flow off the lens taking any dirt particles with it.

The other main binoculars range from Zeiss is the conquest line. These give a high magnification with a very compact body and correspondingly low weight. This will make these binoculars very popular with mountaineers, hikers and outdoor nature enthusiasts when weight is at a premium.

Zeiss binoculars claim for technical superiority is supported by the transfer of technology from their other specialisms which involved lens development such as microscopes and rangefinders. As a result everyone purchasing binoculars from Zeiss is benefiting from years of investment in these other areas.

The birding community are particularly enthusiastic about the Zeiss FL binoculars as they deliver very clear and precise images at a distance which is exactly what is required.

To not search for a cheap or inexpensive set of Zeiss binoculars, they do not exist and you should expect to pay in the region of $2000 for a new set. If performance is important to you in your hobby this could be a very good investment. If you do find a low price bargain set of Zeiss binoculars you should first check they are genuine as quality always comes at a price and you could be purchasing a counterfeit model which will not deliver the images you expect.
